CPRJ feast of new compounding and materials technology

Over 350 local and foreign experts attended the CPRJ & SPE New Materials Through Additives and Compounding Conference & Showcase, held on December 7-8 in Shenzhen, China.

The event marked the beginning of partnership between Adsale and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), bringing together the leaders in additives and compounding professions.

According to the organizer, the participants came from renowned enterprises and brands in the automotive, home appliance/3C, packaging, wires and cables, toys, medical, construction industries.

The demand for modified plastics in China will double from from 114 million tons in 2015 to 221 million tons by 2021, according to the market research company Reportlinker. The estimated market value will be about RMB 3,000 billion.

“The Conference offers an unprecedented opportunity for reputable brand owners and converters to meet face to face with leading technology providers and experts to gather global knowledge, and facilitating the growth of additives and modified plastics,” said Stanley Chu, Chairman, Adsale Group.

Patrick Farrey, CEO of SPE, commented, “I can say with certainty that this event, through the hard work of the Adsale team, is among the best produced anywhere.”

Farrey emphasized the contributions of advances in plastics and composites technology in many application sectors such as automotive and transportation, medical devices, packaging. He also mentioned that additive manufacturing will open an incredible new world of opportunity for on-demand parts manufacturing and product availability.

Chen Shou Chen, Chairman of Shenzhen Modern Material Association, presented “An analysis of the national policy for the insurance compensation mechanisms of highlighted new materials”.

As introduced, the policy was issued by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Finance and The China Insurance Regulatory Commission on 21 September, 2017. It aims to support the fast developments of new functional polymer materials, bioplastics, graphene, 3D printing materials, etc.

Another speaker, Chen PingXu, Product Development Manager, Kingfa Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd., summarized the latest applications of high performance plastics in intelligent home appliances.

Collaboration between news materials and processing machines is crucial in the supply chain to achieve high productivity and quality. Zhang, General Manager (Northern China) of Chen Hsong Sales & Marketing (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. shed lights on this area, sharing the latest developments of advanced injection molding machines.

The afternoon session has been divided into two modules, focusing on two key topics:  (A) Better compounding and functional additives, and (B) Plastic appearance, touch treatment innovations and new materials.

Meanwhile, a concurrent exhibition was held concurrently with renowned suppliers showcased their latest products and technologies in a concurrent exhibition.

A plant visit was arranged on December 8 at Chen Hsong Group (Chen De Plastics Machinery Co. Ltd.).


Driving forward light-weighting possibilities

On November 2, the 7th Edition CPRJ Plastics in Automotive Conference & Showcase welcomed more than 450 local and foreign experts from automotive industry in Wuhan, China.
40+ exhibitors presented their technology at the showcase area.
Under the theme “Lightweighting and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies”, a total of 30+ presentations from experts offered a comprehensive outlook and analysis for a wide range of hot topics, such as the applications of continuous fibers, composite materials & engineering plastics, development of two platen plastic injection molding machines, lightweighting, design for automotive interiors & exteriors, 3D printing, industry 4.0 solutions, the roadmap of new energy vehicles manufacturing in China, regulations and technologies for in-car quality, etc.

Li Linqing, Vice-Director of Automotive Industry Development Office of Wuhan municipal government, said, “China is not only the largest automobile producer in the world, it is also the biggest vehicle market. Within 90km of the conference venue, there are five automakers and 500+ components producers. Near 2 million vehicles will be produced in the area this year. In addition to fuel-based vehicles, automakers are also emphasizing the development of new energy vehicles and smart traffic system. In fact, Wuhan will be a demonstration base for smart vehicle and traffic system. The Wuhan automotive industry is gearing towards lightweight, NEV and smart vehicles!”
Audience eager to discuss in details with the exhibitors.
Hu Xinyi, Director of DongFeng Motor Manufacturing Technology Council, gave a presentation on “The roadmap of new energy vehicles manufacturing in China”.

“From 2000-2015, lean manufacturing was achieved in automotive manufacturing in China through the use of information technology such as MES, EPR and PLM system as well as robots. The next stage, from 2015-2030, will see the adoption of digitalization, big data and smart factory to achieve mass customization. From 2030 onwards, customized production can be done through free structure configuration, smart production and eco-manufacturing,” he said.

In addition to expert presentations, the 7th Edition CPRJ Plastics in Automotive Conference & Showcase held a concurrent exhibition with 40+ renowned materials and equipment suppliers.

Rounding up the conference, participants visited the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Company Ltd’s plant in Wuhan and Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company on November 3.


Plastic packaging from a global perspective

CPRJ Top Packaging & Converting Solutions Conference & Showcase was held successfully on October 20 in Suzhou, China, greeted by over 250 experts and professionals from the global packaging value chain.

Latest market and technology trends of multi-layer plastic films, sheets production, thermoforming were well discussed. In addition, applications of innovative materials and developments of recycling were also addressed by experts in their presentations on stage.

In her welcome remarks, Ida Tian, Chief Representative Officer of Machinery Production Luigi Bandera Beijing Representative Office, remarked that the Conference strengthened Bandera’s presence in the Chinese market.

In the morning session, Wu Hongjun, Deputy Secretary General of China Packaging Federation, shared his presentation “Recycling of packaging based on Extended Producer Responsibility”, giving a comprehensive overview on latest laws and regulations for plastic packaging recycling.

He also emphasized the importance of partnerships between different stakeholders including government, industry, enterprises and consumers, as sustainable packaging is not just an industry problem but a social issue.

More than 20 leading suppliers also showcased their latest technologies and solutions to the audience at the Conference.


Electrified platform for Appliance/3C industry

Jointly organized by Midea and the Adsale Group, the 3rd CPRJ Plastics in Appliance/3C Electronics Conference & Showcase was a resounding success, as over 450 experts and professionals from the home appliance and 3C electronic industries participated in the event on September 29 in Shunde, China.

Latest market and technology trends were discussed during the Conference, including spray free coating; easy cleaning, antimicrobial materials and surface treatments; green coating; corrosion resistant materials; noise and vibration damping materials; OLED; 3D printing; LDS and smart manufacturing; IML; metal/ceramic injection molding; water resistant materials; thermoforming, etc. In total, more than 30 expert presentations were conducted during the conference.

Xu Yiqi, Secretary General, Industrial and Daily-use Electrical Appliance Institute of China Electrical Equipment Industrial Association explained the importance of uplifting the quality of products at the transformation stage of Chinese manufacturing industry.

On the second day, some participants visited the X-pro Centre of Midea Group, a product experience center located in the Midea Group headquarters at Shunde.

The center showcases the new home appliances of Midea, and most of the latest models are featured with smart controls and high energy saving to meet the high requirements of smart modern living.
